Rules

Code of Conduct

All participants, including players, coaches, referees, and spectators, are expected to conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner. Unsportsmanlike behavior, including but not limited to, abusive language, verbal or physical abuse, will not be tolerated.


Eligibility

Eligible levels include U7 (2020-2019), U9 (2018-2017), U11 (2016-2015) and U14 (2014-2012).


Players

All players must wear a helmet, gloves and shin guards (ball hockey or soccer shin guards).


Goalies

All goalies must wear a goalie mask, chest protector, blocker, glove, pants and pads. Goalies participating at the U11 level and above are expected to have their own equipment. However, the league will supply goalie equipment for participants at the U7 and U9 levels. 


Game Format

Games will be played 4 vs 4 (plus goalies) on a reduced surface. Teams will be made up of 10-12 players (including 1 goalie) and led by a dedicated coach.


Games Rules

  • There are no offsides or icings.
  • Slapshots are not allowed.
  • Bodychecking is not allowed.
  • The game clock will be running time.
  • Face-offs occur after stoppages (goals, penalties, etc.).
  • Goalies must resume game play after covering the ball.
  • No timeouts are permitted.
  • There are no overtimes or shootouts during the season.
  • Shootout is the tiebreaker during playoffs games.   


Schedule

Schedule will include 14 regular games and a jamboree/tournament of a 3-5 games for all teams – visit "Schedule" section for more details.


Scoring

Scores will be recorded for the U9 level and above.


Penalties will be assessed for infractions (tripping, slashing, etc.), resulting in penalty shots for the opposing players. Based on the severity of the penalties, referees may remove players from the games. Players may also be suspended by the league for serious infractions. 


Referees have the authority to enforce rules, assess penalties, and make decisions regarding game play. Respect for officials is mandatory.


Standings

Standings will be recorded for the U9 level and above. Standings will be determined by a point system, earning points for wins and ties.


Playoffs

Playoff format and qualification criteria will be determined at the beginning of the season (U9 level and above).

Schedule Changes

The league reserves the right to modify the schedule due to unforeseen circumstances.


Participants are responsible for their own medical insurance coverage.
